Date: Monday, October 13, 2008 ♦ LIBERTY BALL COMMITEE MEETING Planning for Liberty Ball 2009 is underway and we need your help! Committee members are needed to help with logistics, silent auction items and sponsorships. If you're interested or would like more information, please contact co-chairs Amy Muldoon or Denise Sullivan. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 21st, 6:30pm at the Manayunk Diner. Come out if you would like to help in making the 4th annual LIberty Ball ♦ WORLD SERIES GAME 1 WATCH Trade in your Blue & White for Red, watch the Phillies in game 1 of the 2008 World Series Wednesday, October 22nd. Specials for Penn Staters are 25 cent wings and $3 you call its (excludes red bull and top shelf). Location: Mad River, 126 Chestnut Street Time: One hour before game time Contact Jamie Nelson for more information ♦ FORT MIFFLIN GHOST TOUR Join the Chapter for this Family Friendly event at Fort Mifflin. Tour the last standing revolutionary war battlefield still intact and located just minutes of the Philadelphia International Airport. “The Fort that saved America” is said to be haunted and recently featured on “Ghost Stories,” in a March episode and re-shown on September 3rd. Date: Monday November 10th ♦ LIBERTY BALL COMMITTEE MEETING Participate in the Philadelphia Chapter's premiere event, The Liberty Ball, A Knight for the Kids an annual semi-formal gala fundraiser for pediatric cancer. All proceeds benefit The Four Diamonds Fund (through Penn States Dance Marathon) and ConKerr Cancer, A Case for Smiles. Volunteers are needed in the areas of logistics, coporate sponsorship, silent auction donations, marketing. etc. Date: Tuesday, November 11th Contact Co-Chairs Amy Muldoon or Denise Sullivan for more information ♦ PHILABUNDANCE FOOD BANK SORT OFF Continue the Chapter’s annual tradition of volunteering at the Philabundance Food Bank to assist in the sorting of donated food items for hungry Philadelphia area families. BIG TEN TOYS FOR TOTS TOY DRIVE & HAPPY HOUR We need a few good toys, bring your unwrapped toy to this annual Big Ten Alumni event hosted to collect toys for less fortunate children in the Greater Philadelphia area during the holiday season. Meet and greet with local Marines and other Big Ten Alum while making the difference in the life of a child through the USMC Toys for Tots program.
