Membership
The membership committee maintains complete records of all active
and honorary members of the Chapter, as well as the list of all
current Alumni Association members in Philadelphia (the “Alumni
Association List”), which is obtained annually from the Alumni
Association. The membership committee reviews the Alumni Association
List and devises ways to encourage area alumni to participate in
Chapter activities and to become members of the Chapter and the
Alumni Association. The membership committee is responsible for the
promotion and retention of annual membership in the chapter. The
committee maintains contact with the Alumni Association and shall
notify the Alumni Office of address changes, job changes,

Communications
The communications committee is responsible for marketing, PR, the
chapter website, listserv, newsletters, and all other representation
of the chapter with other organizations. The committee works with
the Penn State Office of Public Information, through the local
media, to inform the public of notable Penn State achievements and
accomplishments of its students, faculty, and alumni. The committee
shall assist the standing committees (and ad hoc committees, as
necessary) established to organize and conduct Chapter activities in

Finance
The finance committee shall prepare an annual budget for the
Chapter.The budget is based on a fiscal year ending June 30 and
shall be submitted for approval to the Board no later than July 15
of the same year. The committee works with the Chapter Treasurer to
insure that expenditures are made in accordance with budget. The
committee also conducts an audit of the annual financial report

Nominating
The committee shall receive nominations, verify eligibility, compile
a slate of candidates and oversea the election process bi-annually.

Social Events
The social events committee shall assure that the schedule of
activities consists of a well-rounded series of events designed to
promote all aspects of Penn State’s educational program including
its scholastic, athletic, and cultural activities and to support
Penn State’s efforts to recruit outstanding students. This committee
is responsible for events such as the annual Freshman Sendoff, “Tail
Great Parties,” Homecoming celebrations, etc. Contact

Community Service
The community service committee shall serve as a liaison between the
Chapter and non-profit community service organizations for the
purpose of providing Chapter members an opportunity to assist in
community projects.This is an open Director position, contact Jamie Nelson, Chapter President for more information on community service.
Professional Development
The professional development committee works in conjunction with
other Chapter committees to foster the professional development of
Chapter members by creating continuing education and networking
opportunities/events. The Professional Development Director is an

Scholarship & Student Outreach
The Scholarship & Student Outreach Committee shall serve as a
liaison between the Chapter and the current student body of Penn
State at both University Park and the Philadelphia area branch
campuses. Develops and organizes fundraising events for an endowed
scholarship in the name of the Chapter for current students of Penn
State. Develops application and selection criteria for choosing the
recipient of the scholarship. Generates awareness and interest in
the chapter among students through various activities organized with
students and chapter members. Develops application and selection
