Ali Ingersoll ’12 brings data, discipline, and purpose to the Philadelphia Chapter board.

Ali is an award-winning multimedia data journalist. She works at the intersection of computer programming, analytics, and journalism. While many reporters start with interviews, Ali starts with datasets. She looks for outliers and trend shifts. Then she asks the hard questions.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Bellisario College of Communications in 2012. She later completed a master’s degree in Computational and Data Journalism from Cardiff University. Her work as an investigative data journalist has earned industry recognition for uncovering stories hidden in numbers.

As Scholarship and Student Outreach Director, Ali focuses on access. She wants Philadelphia students to see Penn State as a real option. Her goal is simple. Expand opportunity. Remove barriers. Increase awareness of scholarship pathways.

Ali grew up in the Philadelphia area. Her career has taken her to Raleigh, Buffalo, London, western Pennsylvania, and northern Wisconsin. Now she brings that national perspective back home.
